Hound Dog Steak

Hound Dog Steak¹⁾ has been enjoyed for decades by cowboys and cowgirls in the Western United States, especially on cattle drives and in small western towns. We can certainly imagine cowboys and ranchers sitting around a roaring campfire enjoying Hound Dog Steak with the “boys” as they listen to the coyotes howling not far away.

• 1 steak, raw. Size and quality not important
• 1 Hound dog, very large hound dog preferred
• 1 Bottle of Whiskey. Size and quality not important

• 1 cast iron fry pan, size large enough for the steak
• Strong heat source such as a Stove, grill or camp fire

1. Cook the steak until medium rare
2. Feed the steak to the Hound Dog
3. Drink the bottle of Whiskey

There are many variations on steak but quality and price are not important

Do not spend a lot of money on the steak. If you have enough money, spend it on better whiskey

Dogs other than Hound Dogs can be used in this recipe if they are large, unmannered and hungry enough
